Mindful Rest
An invitation to reconnect and restore
Mindful rest is a gentle practice that reconnects us with the body through awareness of our breath and different parts of the body from head to toe. It draws on well-established somatic and therapeutic frameworks, including Progressive Muscle Relaxation, interoception research, and chronic stress and trauma research. The practice invites us to slow down and rest fully in the present moment. With each breath, our care gently permeates every cell of the body, turning the practice into a nourishing and healing journey for both body and mind.
At the heart of this practice lies in cultivating a relationship of gentleness, respect, and collaboration with the body. With each breath, we offer messages to the body such as: “I am willing to listen to your needs”, “Thank you for staying with me”, “I will care for you”. These words are not only expressions of care, but also an honoring of the body’s deep wisdom. When the body feels understood and attended to, it naturally becomes more able to relax and restore.
