Mindful Breathing
A gateway to reconnect the body and mind
Breathing is the rhythm of life we are born with. Even before birth, we were cradled by the gentle rise and fall of our mother’s breath, a soothing rhythm that left a lasting imprint on our nervous system and gave us our first sense of safety. That deep imprint is why the breath remains one of the most natural and reliable gateways in mindfulness practice, gently guiding us back to the present moment.
Mindful breathing can be practiced anytime, anywhere, without the need for special tools or a particular setting. Whether you are sitting quietly in a car, at home, or in the office, just a few minutes of practice can gently bring your body and mind back to the present moment.
You may place one hand gently on your belly and mentally note, “Breathing in. . . I am aware that my belly is rising. Breathing out. . .I am aware that my belly is falling. Rising. . . Falling. . .” This simple practice can help you reconnect your body and mind, allowing mindfulness to gradually become a natural way of being.
